A Post-Election Message from Faye Armitage
The Start of a New Era
Obama did it!
Florida turned BLUE!
It was an absolute thrill, and truly breathtaking to be in Orlando Tuesday when the news broke that Obama won the Presidency. The atmosphere was electrifying as word came earlier that Alan Grayson and Suzanne Kosmas won their congressional races.
In District 7, the numbers unfortunately didn't go our way on election night, and we are disappointed. More money would have helped, but of the 9 DCCC supported congressional races in Florda, only 2 won. The Obama excitement coupled with the poor economic outlook, normally expected to generate an anti-incumbent mood, just did not translate into most of the widely anticipated wins at the congressional level in Florida.
In two years, we'll have the chance again to convince a lot more people in district 7 to embrace the change we need in our own district.
Already our great nation has witnessed history in the making, and for that I am grateful.
During my campaign I enjoyed meeting with many of you, and I know we'll do better next time.
A special thank you goes out to all of you who worked so hard on my campaign!
We successfully increased our visibility in District 7, and set the stage for a changing of the minds in 2010.
Your support was really terrific, and very much appreciated.
Faye
